Effect of Dry-Wet Cycling on Shear Strength of Phyllite-Weathered Soil in Longsheng, Guilin

Abstract The phyllite-weathered soil is a regional speciality. It essential to study the changes in shear strength of under dry-wet cycles understand mechanical properties process climate and manage slope soil. This paper simulated 12 on specimens remodelled Direct SEM tests were conducted 0th, 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th drying paths. effects moisture content number analysed macroscopically microscopically. following conclusions obtained: (1) cohesion weathered phyllite will be reduced by increasing cycles, more pronounced reduction; internal friction angle but pattern decrease not obvious. (2) increase stiffness brittleness specimen, it change from weak hardening type plastic damage solid softening brittle after certain cycles. (3) test found that particles Longsheng, Guilin are large, most face-to-face angle-to-face contact, which easy form hollow structure, dry density value natural state small. At same time, reddish-brown colour because leaching Fe 2 O 3 . index cemented with significant than other areas. has good small density.
